When Samuel anointed David as king, he had just walked in from tending to his father’s sheep. He must have smelled like dung but God chose him there and then.

God doesn’t look at one’s outward appearance or current state to anoint or use them. There is a deposit of God in us all no matter how irrelevant we feel at times.

David didn’t look like a king but God instructed Samuel to anoint him. The anointing shifted from Saul who was reigning to a young boy tending to his father’s sheep! The youngest, least of Jesse’s sons.

Samuel thought that Eliab was ideal to be king but God chose David. At times the answers to the prayers we have are not packaged the way we want them to be. We must learn to see beyond packaging.
